Mahanandi Gouloka, Hosanagra

One goushala,  where you can see all breeds at a single place. 33 Indian breed Desi cows from all over India are protected here. This goushala was started in the year of 1999 at Hania Taluk of Shivamoga district. It is managed by Dharma Chakra Trust®. There are 400 cow sheds with total rearing capacity of 400 cattle. Presently there are 142 cows, 109 bulls ,101 calves making a total of 352 cattle with 30 different breeds. Around 9 acres of pasture is available for grazing freely and green grass is grown in about 2 acres of land.

Breeds:   Mahanandi Gouloka is the first and the only Goushala in the world to rear the largest variety of Indian indigenous cow breeds.

Amrutamahal, Hallikar, Krishnatheera, Jawari, Malenada Gidda, Kasaragodu, Vechur, Kangayam, Amblacheri, Baraguru, Ongol, Devani, Lal Khandari, Goulav, Dangi, Gir, Kankrej, Nagori, Tharparker, Rati, Sahival, Kerighar, Kenkatha, Ponvar, Nimari, Malavi, Hariyana, Gangateera, Sindhi are the existing   indigenous breed cows which are sheltered in our goushalas.
